When you were young, what was your favorite thing to do, and why?

This one is kind of a tough one.  Depends on what era of my youth?  When I lived in Citrus City in Buras it was playing in the weeds on the back street.  We would make trails, ride bikes, build fires, shoot bb guns, and generally be unsupervised hellions.  Once we moved from there to Empire, I shifted to enjoying riding my four-wheeler around.  Be it to going to my Uncle Wesley and Aunt Joyce's house, or MawMaw Vivian's, or to my job at Petrovich's, or to anything.  There weren't as many kids my age around in Empire so my favorite things shifted to allowing me do more solitary items.  It was also when I really started to get into computers.  It drove my parents nuts that I would hog the phone line since these were the days of dial-up internet.

It probably wasn't for the best that I had so much unsupervised time and waaayyy too much curiousity.  Since I had the means to go where ever I needed to go locally, a job that paid me well for being a teenager, and ready access to power tools this was also when I started doing some destructive stuff.  Taking apart AC/DC wall plugs to perform electrolysis on water to capture hydrogen and oxygen gas.  Disassembling shotgun shells to collect the gunpowder and primers.  Assembling a potato gun out of pvc pipes.  That last one was probably the one that I should've gotten in more trouble for it.  The others were more dangerous but the potato gun seemed like it was safe enough to show it off to my mom and dad.  When they saw how far it would shoot the potato and the damage it could do, they weren't happy.  I mean I was literally making artillery field pieces and selling them to classmates with no regard for them understanding how much propellant you should use.

This time was also when I made some of the stupider choices.  Nothing that forever altered my life.  Just things that even at this time I can't rightly explain why I did those things.  I used to drive around in the family suburban with some friends and hit mailboxes with baseball bats.  Had a bat that was dubbed "the postman".  Had stuff like guaranteed overnight delivery written on it.  We thought we were so funny.  Looking back I feel so stupid for doing those things.  Not only could it have gone poorly in heartbeat.  Someone could have shot at us.  We couldve wrecked the suburban while fleeing.  Etc, etc, etc...  These were people who likely had other shit in their life to do and here we were.  A bunch of dumb kids making their lives harder.  So fucking stupid of us.

Colin/Margo my childhood was different than the childhood I was able to provide for you two.  I don't know if its better or worse.  Bentonville is not Plaquemines Parish no matter how much I could try to make it be that way.  You aren't surronded by cousins and extended family.  You two certainly don't have the same personality and likes/dislikes that I have.  What I do know is that I've tried to give you the autonomy to figure out what kind of childhood you seem to want.  When I've picked up on clues from ya'll I hope I've been able to help make those changes happen.  I do hope that you have a safe and childhood with guardrails that stop you from being idiots but not from exploring.  If not then I hope ya'll have enough sense to not get caught at whatever dumb shit ya'll do.  If you are going to do dumb shit at lease be good enough to cover it up.
